The Founder

Dr. Maria Montessori

Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952) was an Italian physician and educator who developed a revolutionary approach to education. Through scientific observation of children, she discovered that given the right environment and freedom to explore, children have an innate desire to learn.

Her method spread worldwide and has been used for over a century in schools on every continent. Today, thousands of Montessori schools serve children from birth through high school.

At Growing Scholars, we honor Dr. Montessori's legacy by maintaining authentic Montessori practices while adapting to the needs of modern families.

“The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say, 'The children are now working as if I did not exist.'”
— Dr. Maria Montessori
Core Principles

The Foundation of Montessori Education

These principles guide everything we do at Growing Scholars, creating an environment where children thrive.

Child-Centered Learning

Children learn at their own pace, choosing activities that interest them while teachers guide and support their natural curiosity.

Prepared Environment

Our classrooms are carefully designed with age-appropriate materials that invite exploration, discovery, and independent learning.

Mixed-Age Classrooms

Children of different ages learn together, allowing younger children to learn from older peers and older children to reinforce their knowledge by teaching.

Hands-On Learning

Concrete materials help children understand abstract concepts. Learning through touch and manipulation creates deeper understanding.

Independence & Responsibility

Children are encouraged to do things for themselves, building confidence, self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility.

Respect for the Child

Every child is treated with respect and dignity. We honor each child's unique developmental timeline and learning style.
