Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our Montessori programs, enrollment process, and what makes Growing Scholars the right choice for your family.
What is the Montessori method of education?
The Montessori method is a child-centered educational approach developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. It emphasizes hands-on learning, self-directed activity, and collaborative play. Children make creative choices in their learning while the classroom and teacher offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process. This approach fosters independence, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.
What ages do you accept?
We accept children from 6 weeks through 11 years old. Our programs include: Infant Care (6 weeks - 12 months), Toddler Program (12 - 36 months), Preschool/Primary (3 - 5 years), Kindergarten (5 - 6 years), and Before & After School Care (5 - 11 years). We also offer summer programs for all ages.
Are your teachers Montessori certified?
Yes! All of our lead teachers hold Montessori certification from accredited training programs. Our teachers are also experienced, passionate educators who are dedicated to nurturing each child's individual development. We invest in ongoing professional development to ensure our staff stays current with best practices in early childhood education.
Are meals included in tuition?
Yes, all meals and snacks are included in your tuition. We have a dedicated on-site cafeteria where nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks are prepared fresh daily. We accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions with advance notice.
What are your hours of operation?
Both of our campuses are open Monday through Friday from 6:15 AM to 6:00 PM. We are closed on major holidays. Our extended hours make it convenient for working parents to drop off and pick up their children.
Do I need to sign a long-term contract?
No! We do not require yearly contracts. We offer month-to-month enrollment because we are confident that your family will love our school. This flexibility allows families to adjust as their needs change without being locked into a long-term commitment.
How do I enroll my child?
The enrollment process starts with scheduling a tour of our campus. During the tour, you'll meet our teachers, see our classrooms and facilities, and have all your questions answered. After the tour, if you decide we're the right fit, our admissions team will guide you through the enrollment paperwork. We recommend scheduling a tour as soon as possible, as spots fill up quickly!
What is your teacher-to-child ratio?
Our ratios meet or exceed state requirements: Infants (1:4), Toddlers (1:6), Preschool/Primary (1:10), Kindergarten (1:12). These low ratios ensure that every child receives individual attention and care.
Do you offer tours?
Absolutely! We encourage all prospective families to schedule a tour. Tours are available Monday through Friday during our operating hours. We recommend morning tours so you can see our classrooms in action. You can schedule a tour by calling us or filling out our online tour request form.
What makes your playground special?
Our Cypress campus features the largest playground for preschoolers in the area! Both campuses have age-appropriate, safe outdoor play equipment, shaded areas, and plenty of space for children to run, climb, and explore. We also have a full gymnasium for indoor physical activity during inclement weather.
How does potty training work?
For our toddler program, we work closely with families to support potty training readiness. Our teachers are experienced in helping children transition from diapers to using the toilet. For our Primary/Preschool program (ages 3+), children must be fully potty trained before enrollment.
What enrichment activities do you offer?
We offer a variety of enrichment activities included in tuition, such as Spanish language instruction, piano lessons, dance classes, and more. These activities enhance the core Montessori curriculum and give children exposure to music, movement, and world languages.
How do you communicate with parents?
We believe in strong parent-teacher partnerships. We provide daily communication about your child's activities, meals, and development. This includes digital updates, regular parent-teacher conferences, and an open-door policy for questions and concerns.
What is your sick child policy?
For the health and safety of all children and staff, we ask that sick children stay home. Children should be fever-free (without medication) for 24 hours before returning to school. We follow CDC guidelines for common childhood illnesses.
